Introducing the mind and heart behind SMMorbidCreations, Samantha Murphy!

Born and raised in a small town outside of Somerset, PA I grew up loving anything and everything to do with the arts. I found comfort in creating everyway that I could, dipping my toes into anything creative that I could get my hands on.

All throughout my early years in school I was praised for my art, my creative mind with drawing and poetry. As the years progressed I took my love for drawing more serisoly. Sitting down trying to learn new mediums and styles trying to find one that fit me.

As I progressed into my early teen years I found the love for the dark arts, creating creepy, dark, morbid, haunting images and sculptures shining a light on the darker side of life. Creating things that you normally wouldn't see in your day to day life. I found peace in myself and found a newfound love for this expressive form of art.

My homeplace, conveniently located just yards from Huston's Haunted Hollow, cemented a goal that I wanted to achieve very early on. I had to work there whenever I was older! I loved everything and anything scary and Halloween. So in 2017 i started my haunt actor journey at Haunted Hollow. I fell in love with scaring and the haunt industry and have made so many forever friends along the way. In 2019 I began my career in SFX makeup and airbrushing and joined the makeup team, creating monsters and creatures.

This journey into becoming part of my local haunt gave me the courage to start sharing my art with the world. Creating socials to start sharing my art and makeup to not just me and my friends but to the world. I created more and more dark works of art and SFX looks, using TIKTOK to showcase the makeup side of things.

I wanted my art to be what I did with life. Creating and sharing with minds other than my own. It was a struggle, especially being from such a small town where the dark and different are frequently frowned upon. I pushed and pushed, got burnt more times than not, but I got back up each and every time. I love what I do and the things I create!

As of 2024 my dreams of being an artist full time slowly started unfolding. I began tattooing, an artform I always wanted to do, but got scared as I convinced myself I would never be a good enough artist to achieve such a dream. I was proved wrong, I did have what it takes, the heart, the mind and the skill for ink. In 2025 I began my tattoo apprenticeship under Artful Alex, taking my love for tattooing to the next level. Learning more and more and perfecting and honing in on my skills until fall of 2025 I officially became a resident artist at Tattoos by Artful Alex. A literal dream come true. With this opportunity I was able to share my art even more than before with a shop presence.

Sharing my art with more than just those around me means more than words can express. To share this love and passion and see others share the same is so heartwarming and a literal dream come true.

The amount of support I've received over the years is overwhelming. To have something that I can share not only with paint and clay but with ink and skin to others and have it welcomed with open arms brings tears to my eyes.
