"Mourning Face" Original Painting

Hellraiser, on of my favorite collection of horror films. This piece is inspired loosely on the imagery seen in the movies, Human skin, faces, and bodies strung up and pulled by hooks and line.

She looks in the mirror everyday, staring at the face looking back. She doesn't like what she sees, no amount of makeup or beauty products can change what she feels inside. Hate for what she is, never seeming like she will ever be good enough, pretty enough for anyone. 

She chooses what face she wants to put on for the day: pleasing for those she wants to please. Shy and simple, to hide from the attention. Bold and pretty for those she wishes to be seen by. Or angry for those who demand too much of her. What face will she hide behind today?

This piece is finished with a beautiful border of "human skin" liquid latex pulled and painted to look fleshy and disturbing. For this piece is disturbing, on purpose. 

All paintings are made using lightfast paints and are varnished to stand the test of time.
