We all have a shell that protects us, whether it be from past traumas or experiences. Sometimes we put them up to shield our hearts and minds. I’m guilty of having one, though it’s been broken one too many times.
Is it present always? No, only when needed, to protect everything I’ve worked so hard over the years building back up. I’m shy, I have a kind heart and soul, but that comes with a hidden side, one that’s seen the brutal side of people. The side that’s seen everything I pride myself in torn to pieces, bit by bit…

We all have that side, walls we build, bitterness, protectiveness.

There’s no shame in hiding behind that shell, we all do. We do it to protect ourselves. We are sacred to ourselves. Never let someone, anyone break you down in a way that you’re left screaming inside, broken.
Surround yourself with those who value you and your true self! Love those who show you what love really is. What kindness is!

I’m thankful to be in a place in life where I’m surrounded by that everyday, no longer living in fear.
